Leeds United fans react as Pascal Struijk earns new Elland Road contract

Pascal Struijk has continued his meteoric rise through the Leeds United ranks by signing a new contract with the Elland Road-based club, as confirmed on the official website.

The defender will stay in West Yorkshire until 2024 having arrived at the club from Ajax two years ago.

Struijk only played five times during the club’s promotion-winning 2019/20 campaign.

He was a surprise inclusion in Marcelo Bielsa’s team to face Liverpool on the opening day of 2020/21 as the Whites lost 4-3 to the champions.

Since then he has played in four further matches in all competitions and looks like being a big player for the future.

Struijk can operate as a centre-back or in a holding midfield role and his versatility makes him an ideal Bielsa player.

He has been a regular prior to the current campaign for the club’s under-23 ranks, catching the eye with a string of fine performances.

Following news of a new deal, Leeds supporters have taken to Twitter to speak of their delight at the news.
