Kalvin Phillips has capped an impressive 12 months by earning his first call-up to the England squad. Gareth Southgate has named the Leeds United midfielder in his latest 24-man squad.
The Three Lions will face Iceland and Denmark next month and after helping Leeds to the Championship title at the end of last season, he could also earn a first England cap.
Phillips, 24 was instrumental as Marcelo Bielsa’s team eventually won the league at a canter, playing 40 games in all competitions.

Typically a defensive midfielder, the Leeds-born star has adhered himself to the club’s faithful with a string of combative displays in the Whites’ holding role.
Since graduating from the club’s academy Phillips has played 181 times for Leeds and this call-up is thoroughly deserved for the midfielder.
Following the latest news, supporters have been responding on Twitter and it’s fair to say they are absolutely delighted.
Phillips penned a new long-term deal at Elland Road and will now look to help the Whites enjoy a successful maiden season back in the Premier League.
Here is a selection of Tweets from the club’s loyal fanbase as Leeds midfielder Phillips earns international recognition for the first time.
