Leeds United fans react as Kalvin Phillips is linked with rivals Manchester United

Manchester United are interested in Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to reports.

The Sun is claiming that the club sent assistant manager Mike Phelan to watch Phillips take on Birmingham City at Elland Road last weekend. First-team coach Kieran McKenna was then in attendance as Phillips lined up against Preston in midweek.

The report claims that Manchester United are interested in a deal for Phillips next summer. The club is aware that he will cost ‘big money’ and are wary of being caught out in an ‘auction’ for his sale in the event that Leeds fail to get promoted.

Obviously that has caused quite the stir among the Leeds United fanbase.

Links to Phillips are not new. Throughout the summer he was linked with a move away from the club with Aston Villa in particular consistently linked with his signature.

But they kept hold of the midfield maestro who has since gone on to sign a new long-term deal at Elland Road.

Leeds fans seem to accept that Phillips could, however, move on in the summer if the club fails again in their hunt for promotion.

But a move to Manchester United? That would certainly sting considering the intense rivalry between the two sides, a rivalry local lad Phillips will know all about.

Here is how some Leeds fans reacted to the reports linking Phillips with a move to Old Trafford.
