Leeds United fans react as defender linked with league champions
Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi could reportedly make a shock move to Massimo Cellino’s Brescia after the Italian side won promotion to Serie A as Serie B champions – and Leeds fans want him gone.
Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed that 30-year-old Berardi is a target for Brescia. A move to the Italian side will see Berardi return to the Serie B champions, seven and a half years since he left for Sampdoria.
Berardi, 30, has starred for Leeds since joining the club in the summer of 2014 – as one of many signings made by Massimo Cellino. He joined at the same time as the likes of Souleymane Doukara and Mirco Antenucci.
But the one-time Switzerland international may have shown in his final Leeds appearance that is more than flexible. That is because he was sent off in the play-off semi-final. Derby capitalised, knocking Leeds out.
Berardi has a contract at Leeds until the summer of 2020. This summer, then, could be the last chance Leeds have to bring in some cash for the defender. In January 2020, he can be approached on a free transfer.
Leeds United fans reacted on Twitter to the news that former owner Cellino is looking to take Berardi back to Brescia after first leaving the club in January 2012, and many want the defender sold.
I’d let him go tbh, Decent enough back up but only has a year on his deal and at 30 we shouldn’t give him a new one

Let him go, even on loan. Dont ever want to see him in a leeds shirt of all the red cards to have, that wasnt a time. Even with the 2 goal we gave away if he hadn't got sent off we cudda still got back into it that changed momentum of game him going like that
