Leeds United have been surprisingly linked with a move for Manchester City and former Whites star Fabian Delph this summer – and Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter.
The Sun claim the 29-year-old midfielder has been targeted by the Whites, with the Championship club showing ‘initial interest’ in the 2018 England World Cup star.
The report claims that there are two major issues stopping Leeds from signing Delph, and that is that the former Aston Villa star is too expensive. Manchester City want £15million, and he is earning £80,000 a week.
The other reason is that Leeds’ failure to gain promotion to the Premier League, after losing to Derby in the play-offs, means they struggle in any battle to bring the left-footed midfielder back if other top-tier sides are keen.
Delph has struggled for game time this season, and is unlikely to win his place back. He has a year left on his contract, and this could be the final chance to bring in some cash for his signature.
Some Leeds fans are desperate to see Delph return to Elland Road for a third time. Delph left Leeds in 2009, and returned for a loan spell in 2012. However, other Leeds fans do not believe a move will materialise.

Yeah we want Messi as well but unfortunately the same two issues are hindering this deal as well.

Why would Delph drop to the Championship?
