Leeds United remain five points clear of third place in the Championship after a 2-1 win over QPR. It was a game that was most remarkable for Leeds actually winning a penalty, for the first time in 51 games.
Once again, Leeds also came into the game with serious defensive frailties. Right-back, in particular, was an issue. With Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi both out of action, Stuart Dallas’ broken foot could not have come at a worse time.
But Marcelo Bielsa again showed faith with his young players. Jamie Shackleton was probably doubting he would be in first-team contention this season. However, injuries have now handed him an opportunity.

Based on this performance, it is one he plans on taking.
Shackleton was superb against QPR, giving Leeds plenty of attacking impetus and also handled his defensive duties.
The 19-year-old performed brilliantly and Leeds fans will now hope he can continue to perform in such a manner.
Considering he is a central midfielder by trade, it is quite an achievement for the teenager…
