Leeds United are out of the League Cup having been dumped out by championship rivals Preston North End. The West Yorkshire side suffered their first competitive defeat under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa after a 2-0 defeat at Elland Road.
It was a poor first-half performance that cost them dearly. Leeds could not get a foot on the game in the first 45 minutes and were subsequently punished by Preston.
Bielsa made several changes to the side and many of the incoming fringe players did not take their chance.
One such player was Conor Shaughnessy. The 22-year-old was back from injury and given a chance to state his claim for a regular spot in the Leeds squad.

It did not go well.
The Irishman had a poor game, finding himself run ragged by Preston’s attacking force. It was a performance that did not go unnoticed by the Leeds fans on Twitter, many of whom lambasted the display.
Shaughnessy does not appear to be Championship level and Leeds fans were left wondering why no more centre-backs have been added to the squad, as it looks to be their weak link.
In the end, the young defender was hauled off at half-time, replaced by Kalvin Phillips.
Here is how some fans reacted to Shaugnesssy’s struggles on Twitter…
