Leeds United stayed in promotion contention yesterday with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Bolton Wanderers at Elland Road. The relegation candidates did not make things easy for Leeds, but three points keeps them in the automatic running with rivals Norwich City and Sheffield United.
There were a number of top displays for Leeds. Mateusz Klich and Pablo Hernandez were both excellent in midfield whilst Jack Harrison continues to go from strength to strength in recent weeks.
However, special mention once again has to go to Leeds excellent and understated captain Liam Cooper. The Scotland centre-back put in another fine display alongside Pontus Jansson at the heart of Leeds’ defence in a tough battle against Clayton Donaldson and Josh Magennis.

His display once again highlighted his sensational development under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa. After struggling at Leeds under the revolving door of different managers, the Argentine has put his faith in Cooper and turned him into one of the divisions top central defenders.
If he can continue to provide such solid performances going forward, then Leeds have a perfect base from which to build a promotion charge upon in the final weeks of the campaign.
