BBC Sport have reported that contract talks between Swansea City and Daniel James have hit the skids, as the two parties fail to agree on a buyout clause for the winger – and Leeds United fans are excited on Twitter.

Leeds came within an inch of landing the Wales international in January. It was believed a loan move had been agreed, which would become permanent in the summer if Leeds were promoted.

James, 21, had passed a medical at Elland Road and some reports even claim he picked a shirt number. But Swansea chose to ignore last-minute calls from Leeds, before the deadline slammed shut.

James, who is in the form of his life and even opened his Wales account with a wonderful effort against Slovakia to win 1-0 in Euro 2020 qualifiers, is said to want a buyout clause worth just £4million.

With his contract expiring at the end of next season, the chances of him leaving are high. If his contract includes a buyout clause of such a small figure, he is almost certain to leave this summer.

Leeds may not be alone in reigniting their interest in James at the end of the season. The Sun claim Pep Guardiola is looking to rival close friend Marcelo Bielsa, and bring the youngster to Manchester City.

Despite Manchester City’s reported interest, Leeds fans reacted to the latest claim from BBC Sport and are in meltdown on Twitter – with many of the belief that this is the boost Leeds needed to land his signature.
