Leeds United fans discuss Mallik Wilks’ first-team chances next season

Leeds United’s youngster was in fine form for Doncaster Rovers last season.

Leeds United’s promising winger Mallik Wilks had an excellent season out on loan last term, thriving during a stint with Doncaster Rovers.

The 20-year-old played 55 times last season, scoring 16 goals and assisting 12 at the Keepmoat Stadium. It was an excellent campaign from the player and he will now be hopeful of a long-term future at Leeds United.

Indeed, his manager at Doncaster believes he will be a wanted man this summer. Grant McCann told the club’s official website this week about how ‘everyone’ now wants a piece of the Leeds attacker, along with Liverpool loanee Herbie Kane.

“These two boys came in and no one knew them, everyone was wondering what to expect.

“They went from strength to strength and now everyone is after them, it gives you a sense of pride in the job.”

Leeds United fans have been discussing on Twitter whether Wilks should now be a part of the first-team picture.

The Whites are somewhat short in the wide areas and Wilks’ pace is a threat Leeds do seem to lack.

So the general consensus is that Wilks at least deserves a chance in pre-season to prove himself.

There are some issues off the football pitch that Wilks needs to deal with first before he gets any sort of push from Leeds United.

But should they be resolved, Wilks has earned a place in the Leeds picture for pre-season at least.

Here is what the fans think…
