Leeds United are keen to make Elvis Rexhbecaj a £7 million summer signing, according to German publication Bild. Norwich City are also interested in the Wolfsburg player.

The Whites won’t be reaching the Premier League via the top two this season and must now gear themselves up for a possible three play-off fixtures.

A 21-year-old midfielder, the German has played in 22 games for the Bundesliga outfit this season; scoring twice and claiming three assists.

The Canaries might hold the upper hand right now given that they are already promoted, but Leeds’ stature and the lure of playing with Marcelo Bielsa might work in their favour.

Wolfsburg could be tempted into a sale given that his contract is up during the summer of 2020. If they can receive £7 million for him he could depart during the transfer window.

TBR Verdict

Rexhbecaj is something of an unknown quantity to English football supporters. That doesn’t mean the 21-year-old doesn’t possess real quality, however.

The German playmaker has looked in decent nick during the 2018/19 Bundesliga campaign and would add something to the Leeds midfield ranks.

Whether or not the Whites can secure such a signing without Premier League football would remain to be seen. Leeds’ promotion hopes hang in the balance and at this stage, it is unsure just how realistic their chances are of signing the midfielder.

The valuation of £7 million would represent decent money given the player’s potential.
