Leeds United fans can rightly be frustrated with how some of their attacking signings have managed this season. Not for lack of effort, but just general fitness. Izzy Brown recovered from his knee problem before suffering a hamstring strain. Patrick Bamford suffered a knee ligament injury, returned, then reinjured himself.
So perhaps they would have been better off signing a different one of their attacking transfer targets in the summer. Someone like … Moussa Konate?
The Senegal international was reported by L’Equipe to be on the radar of Leeds in the summer. The Mirror (print edition; 08/08/18; pg 51) then suggested a £6 million move was being considered for the Amiens star, who Marcelo Bielsa would know well from his time managing Lille and Marseille.

However, Konate, who can play in a number of attacking roles, never came. He went on to have a stunning start to the season. Konate scored three goals in his first three games of the campaign. Leeds fans were wondering if they missed the boat. In fact, they might have avoided a shipwreck.
Konate has not scored a goal since netting that third one against Reims in August. He went on an eight-game goalless streak before suffering a groin strain in October. He has not played since and Leeds would have had yet another frontman on the sidelines.
Leeds can be disappointed that Bamford and Brown have not yet been able to flourish due to injury trouble. However, Konate would clearly not have been any better in that regard.
