Leeds United confident Jack Harrison will sign a new contract - journalist

Football journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Leeds United are no longer worried Jack Harrison will leave the club – they think he’ll sign a new contract.

The talented attacker joined Leeds on a permanent deal after a hugely successful three-year loan spell. The Whites agreed an £11 million deal with Manchester City to bring him in (BBC), and he has mostly been brilliant since.

Journalist says Leeds United are confident Jack Harrison will sign a new contract

Harrison was a subject of a lot of interest from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window. Even Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly keen to bring him in.

Leeds, however, entertained no offers for Harrison, and made it clear to his suitors that they were not going to sell him unless a huge bid was tabled. An offer like that just did not arrive.

Harrison stayed at Elland Road in the end, but rumours continued to link him with a move away from Leeds in January – when he will enter the final 18 months of his contract.

Thankfully for Leeds fans, there’s some good news now. The Whites are confident he’ll sign a new contract and extend his stay at the club.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “I’ve checked this out and sources close to it are saying that Leeds are confident that he will sign that new contract soon.”

TBR View:

Harrison hasn’t had the greatest of campaigns for Leeds so far this term. He has scored just once since the start of the season, but that doesn’t make him a bad player.

The 36-year-old scored 10 goals and provided three assists for Leeds last season, and he managed eight and eight in the season before. That’s an excellent return for a wide player.

The 26-year-old is still one of Leeds’ key men going forward. He is a fantastic player when he’s in form, and it’s only a matter of time before he finds his feet again.

It will be a real shame for interested parties if Harrison ends up committing his future at Elland Road, but Whites fans will not care one bit.
