Leeds United missed a big opportunity to defeat Arsenal in the FA Cup last night. The Whites dominated for large parts but fell to defeat thanks to a Reiss Nelson goal in the second half.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team currently occupy top spot in the Championship and on last night’s form will certainly win promotion.
The Argentine boss very nearly won promotion last season in his maiden campaign in English football. His team were denied by Derby County in the play-off semi-final.
Leeds might not have won a place in the fourth round last night but they did win some new admirers.
Former Liverpool duo Micheal Owen and Jason McAteer both took to Twitter to praise the Yorkshire-based club.
Ex-England striker Owen thinks Leeds will go up and become a force in the top-flight:

It’s hard to argue that if Leeds go up they will be an attractive club for potential new additions.
With a large fan base, the Whites would give themselves every possibility of maintaining their Premier League status.
McAteer was also impressed with the free-flowing nature of Bielsa’s team and also took to Twitter:
Only watched 35 mins and I really hope @LUFC come up. Proper fans and a very very good team

Of course, Leeds must make sure they keep things moving in the Championship and if anything last night’s defeat might be a good thing.
Bielsa’s squad is relatively small and now their full focus can be fixated on winning promotion from the Championship.
The Premier League would seem better off with Leeds’ presence and it will be interesting to see what impact they could have on the division next season.
