The ball is rolling in terms of Leeds United’s summer transfer business.

Indeed, Leeds have made their first official signing since returning to the Premier League in the shape of Lukas Nmecha.

However, The Whites aren’t quite finished there. Jaka Bijol is set to sign for Leeds in the coming days, while more additions could be on the horizon.

Speaking on the Inside Elland Road Podcast, Graham Smyth has been discussing Leeds’ summer business so far, and he says that the club were keen to make it clear after signing Nmecha that another striker would be on the way.

Leeds still want another striker

Smyth shared what Leeds were making clear to him after signing Nmecha.

According to the journalist, Leeds have been very keen to stress that they’re still in the market for another striker.

Leeds have bid £32m for Rodrigo Muniz recently, and they very much want another number nine.

“We should also say that Leeds were keen to stress that they are not finished in terms of centre-forward shopping this summer. They’re still looking for a centre-forward, and you imagine that it would be a starting centre-forward they are looking for, someone to compete with Piroe,” Smyth said.

Leeds’ striker options analysed

Leeds United want another striker, and it’s not hard to understand why.

Indeed, the Whites are in a position where they do have a number of number nines on their books right now, but it’s hard to argue that many of them are Premier League quality.

Joel Piroe scored plenty of goals last season, but he’s never been a regular goalscorer at the top level.

Meanwhile, Patrick Bamford has scored Premier League goals in the past, but he’s seemingly past his best at this point.

Lukas Nmecha isn’t exactly prolific either, while Mateo Joseph is only a young player, albeit with plenty of potential.

A new, experienced, trustworthy number nine is just what the doctor ordered at Elland Road.
