Leeds United have asked the question regarding the availability of winger Alexander Alvarado, according to Ecuadorian publication El Telegrafo.
The 20-year-old plays for SD Aucas of the Ecuadorian top-flight and he was watched by the Whites during the Under-20 World Cup.
Alvarado impressed sufficiently as the report now claims that Leeds have ‘asked’ for the player’s services.
The Whites were desperately impressed with the tricky winger during his latest international performances. His work at both ends of the pitch caught the eye and there is interest from the Championship side.
Alvarado is said to be ‘calmy’ weighing up his next move, however. There could be doubts over his work permit application, although Leeds could sign him and loan him back to South America.
Marcelo Bielsa will leave no stone unturned in his attempts to secure the very best players for Leeds.
There won’t have been too many Championship managers sending scouts to the Under-20 World Cup, but Bielsa had a representative out there.
Alvarado looks like an exciting prospect. There are currently doubts over a work permit, he’d still be an attractive signing for the future.
Bielsa has a vast knowledge of South American football and the 20-year-old would surely relish the chance to work with a legend of the game.
Leeds will hope for some bigger name signings, however.
With Leeds hoping to challenge for promotion next season; their supporters will hope to see some players added with proven Championship experience.
