Linked with Ryan Kent, Leeds settling for Albert Adomah would be viewed as underwhelming

Leeds United will hope to finally realise their promotion dream next season after failing to negotiate the play-offs during 2018/19.

The Whites were beaten at the semi-final stage and every emphasis will now be geared towards automatic promotion when the season starts in August.

Boss Marcelo Bielsa has already pledged his future to the Elland Road-based club and that can only bode well for next season.

Several players are being linked with summer moves to Leeds. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Ryan Kent is on the club’s radar following his spell at Rangers last season.

The winger scored six goals and contributed nine assists to Steven Gerrard’s team in 2018/19.

Other big names have been linked with a move to Elland Road during the summer. What Leeds must avoid, however, is stockpiling ordinary players.

The squad is pretty good and a couple of stellar additions should be enough to have them challenging for promotion.

One man who would probably be seen as desperately underwhelming in the eyes of supporters is free agent Albert Adomah.

The 31-year-old has been shown the door following Aston Villa’s promotion and the Birmingham Mail believe Leeds to be showing an interest.

Backward step

Adomah has been courted by the Whites in the past. A 15-goal campaign during 2017/18 has Leeds keen on his services but the last 12 months haven’t warranted this latest interest.

The winger netted just four goals and claimed three assists last season, with his career clearly regressing from the season previous.

Adomah has some ability, of course. For a team challenging for promotion and possibly the title, however, he isn’t of the required standard any longer.

Being linked with a promising up-and-coming talent like Kent and then settling for Adomah wouldn’t really do much to raise spirits ahead of the new season at Elland Road.
