Leeds United fans are used to having their club linked with a host of names. But it is not too often that a CEO at another club actually confirms a bid. That was the case earlier this year. Adolf Sadek, the supremo at Czech outfit Viktoria Plzen, confirmed that there had been a winter approach from Leeds for the club’s star striker Michael Krmencik.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the striker was valued at £10 million. Such a fee seems just out of Leeds price range.
In the end, they did spend big on a striker this summer. Patrick Bamford arrived for a fee in the region of £7 million from Middlesbrough.
“In the summer (of 2017), Slavia Prague came in, Leeds in the winter, then Montpellier, Bordeaux, eventually Newcastle .The bids were extraordinary.”

However, he is now out for four months with a PCL strain and Leeds could really do with someone of Krmencik’s talents now.
That’s because the Czech international is in incredible form for his club. In seven games so far this season he has managed seven goals. It comes after a summer in which Plzen fought hard to keep the 25-year-old goal-machine.

Leeds would no doubt be glad to have Krmencik at Elland Road now, as they face up to a striker shortage.
In the future, perhaps he might find his path heading to West Yorkshire, or at least English football.
For now, table-topping Leeds will battle on with what they have.
