Leeds United’s under-23s face Stoke City at Thorp Arch on Monday – and it would be no surprise to see several first-team stars involved for Mark Jackson’s men.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side do not have a game this week after their clash with Southampton was postponed. So Monday may represent a good opportunity for several players to get minutes under their belt.
The biggest name who should be involved is Diego Llorente. The Spaniard returned to the first-team bench against Brighton on Saturday. But he has not played at any level since recently returning from injury.
The Whites may be wary of using Llorente. He has struggled since arriving for £20 million (via Daily Mail). But he also needs some game-time to put himself in contention for what would his second first-team appearance.
He may be one of seven players named on the bench against Brighton to start against Stoke.
Elia Caprile and Leif Davis could start in goal and at left-back respectively. Meanwhile, the likes of Helder Costa, Ian Poveda, Jamie Shackleton and Tyler Roberts should also feature.
Roberts looked bright after coming off the bench against the Seagulls. And Costa could do with restoring some confidence after falling down the pecking order.
Our predicted lineup would be incredibly harsh on Crysencio Summerville. He scored a hat-trick last time out. But the likes of Costa and Poveda may need the minutes more, so Summerville may have to settle for a spot on the bench.
With that in mind, here is how Leeds’ under-23s may look on Monday…
