Leeds transfer news: PL star Whites are reportedly prepared to pay £40m for claims he's holding out for Barcelona move
Leeds United may be hoping that Barcelona do not enter the race to sign Adama Traore in the transfer window, with the winger making an interesting claim about a potential return to the Nou Camp.
Adama has been linked with the Whites once again this summer. According to Eurosport last week, Leeds are working to find out how much Wolves want for the 25-year-old.
It was claimed that Marcelo Bielsa’s men are prepared to pay about £40 million for Adama.
It remains to be seen if Wolves would be open to talks. But it appears that the Spain international has his heart on a move elsewhere.
Ahead of Spain’s final Euro 2020 group game, the wide-man was asked whether he would like to return to Barca one day.
He went on to hint that his representatives are keeping tabs on the Catalan giants’ plans in the market in case an opening crops up.
“Barcelona is my home, it is reality,” he said, as reported by the Daily Mail. “I have grown up there, I have been there for 10 years.
“From here on we will have to manage with my agents and see what role Barca wants.”
Leeds may not necessarily see Adama’s comments as a transfer blow
Adama may have his sights set on Barcelona. But there is little right now to suggest whether his former club plan to make a move.
So it may not necessarily be anything that has an impact on Leeds this summer. But perhaps it may prove a problem further down the line.
If Leeds are indeed prepared to pay £40 million for Adama, they will be hoping that he goes on to steal the show for Bielsa’s side.
In that situation, Barca may well sit up and take more notice. And if he is presented with the chance to return, his comments suggest that he would struggle to turn it down.
