Leeds transfer: Fans react to Junior Firpo links

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post claiming that the Whites have their eye on Junior Firpo in the transfer window.

Leeds are taking their time to get stuck into the summer. But it is little surprise to see the club linked with a left-back.

There remains a huge question mark hanging over whether Gjanni Alioski will stay at Elland Road. His contract expires this summer.

Whether he stays or not, Leeds surely need greater quality in that area of the field. And it seems that one of their top targets has come to light.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds are keen on Firpo, who is also wanted by a number of other sides including Napoli.

Firpo has not been a regular at the Nou Camp. He has made 41 appearances in all competitions across two campaigns with the Catalan giants.

But there is little shame in being a backup for Jordi Alba. Meanwhile, he is also someone who can play in a variety of positions – so it is not hard to see why Marcelo Bielsa may be interested.

And it appears that many Leeds fans would be delighted if Firpo did end up at Elland Road.

It would be a serious statement as the Whites look to build on a fantastic first year back in the top flight.
