Leeds United can send out a real statement to their promotion rivals if they manage to sign Steven Zuber from German top-flight club Hoffenheim.

According to Bild, the Whites are interested in the Bundesliga attacker in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old is in the final 18 months of his contract, but it’s unclear on if a deal could be agreed to move to Elland Road.

Zuber would be a high-profile addition to Leeds and be yet another example of the impact of manager Marcelo Bielsa.

He’s been involved in the Champions League group stages this season and scored against Shakthar Donetsk, while also featuring in the Bundesliga.

Zuber is also a Switzerland internatonal that has 21 caps for his nation and scored five goals in return.

The wide man would immediately crank up competition for places in the side alongside the likes of Jack Clarke, Ezgjan Alioski and Jack Harrison.

But bringing in a Champions League attacker to the ranks is surely going to signal intent to promotion rivals that Leeds are going for the gold this season.

Bielsa’s team are two points clear at the top of the Championship despite losing their last two games and it may take one big marquee signing in January to get them over the line.
