Leeds United target Rory Mahady has confirmed on Instagram that he is leaving Celtic after nine years on the books with the Hoops.

Mahady has attracted plenty of attention in the last few months. The Daily Mail (22/8; page 14) reported that Leeds were in talks to sign the 16-year-old goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, it has previously been reported that Manchester City are interested. But it does seem that Leeds may be in the driving seat.

Perhaps it may not be too long until we learn where Mahady’s next move will take him. The teenager has now taken to Instagram to confirm that he is indeed leaving Parkhead after nearly a decade with the Scottish Premiership champions.

Here is what Mahady posted on social media this afternoon…

Leeds target Mahady leaving Celtic

Leeds have done some brilliant work when it comes to recruiting players from other academies in recent years. One of those deals saw Leo Hjelde move to Elland Road from Celtic Park.

Hjelde is one of a number of prospects on the periphery of the first-team squad in Yorkshire. And they have continued to strengthen their youth ranks.

So it would be no surprise if Mahady ended up at Leeds now that he has confirmed that he is moving from Celtic.

Obviously, it would be some time before he is pushing towards the first-team fold at Leeds if he makes the move. Harry Christy has been first-choice for the under-21s. Meanwhile, Daniel Ombang is knocking on the door.

But the pathway to the senior side is there for the brightest youngsters. And perhaps Mahady feels that he would be better off at Leeds – if he is indeed Elland Road-bound.
