Leeds target Eamonn Brophy wouldn’t be an upgrade at striker next season

Leeds United are reportedly interested in Kilmarnock centre-forward Eamonn Brophy this summer.

According to TEAMtalk, the 23-year-old has attracted the interest of English Championship duo Leeds and Derby County.

It is understood that Rangers are also keen on the striker and could make a move for him in the transfer window.

Brophy has just been called up to senior Scotland squad for the first time and will be hoping to make his international debut.

The striker has completed 33 games for Kilmarnock this season and managed 12 goals in return.

He’s a developing talent in Scotland that has a great work-rate and is a set-piece specialist too.

The Kilmarnock ace constantly shoots from range and is also a calm head from the penalty spot.

But Brophy wouldn’t be an upgrade next season for Leeds in attack.

Brophy certainly has decent potential to become a great player, but is not the finished article yet and isn’t a natural finisher.

He would surely be the third-choice option if he did move to Elland Road for next season and be used to strengthen the options of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

Kemar Roofe scored 15 goals in just 34 games this season for the Whites and will be a force next season for the Yorkshire club if he can avoid injuries.

Meanwhile, left-footed strike Patrick Bamford managed 10 goals in just 25 games and the attacking pair would be far more reliable than Brophy at this stage.
