Manchester United are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Swansea City’s Daniel James, who is also believed to be a target for Leeds United.
According to Sky Sports, Premier League giants United are close to a £15million agreement for the Championship winger.
It is understood that the 21-year-old saw a transfer to Leeds fall through in the January window, as Swansea pulled the plug on his exit after he underwent a medical on deadline day.
He could now end up in the top flight next season, with the report adding that a number of other Premier League clubs are also interested.
TEAMtalk have reported that Leeds are still keen on signing James at the end of the season and hope to have Premier League football to persuade him if they come through the play-offs.
It is understood that they could even try negotiate a loan swoop if he does end up moving to Old Trafford.
With James’ future a hot topic for discussion, all eyes are on him to see what he does.
The left-winger should not reject a switch to Elland Road, as Leeds have shown they are serious about signing him in the past and their attacking style could be a great fit for him.
There is also the risk he ends up a flop if he makes the colossal step to United, where he would have to made a huge impact to break into the XI.
Wilfried Zaha is a classic example of a young talented player failing when he made the big move to Old Trafford.
He signed for United for £15million (BBC) back in 2013, but was sold just two years later after making just four senior appearances for them.
Zaha, 26, is now a top-class performer in the Premier League back at Palace and it turned out a move to the elite club wasn’t the best step to further his career.
James is a Wales international that can have a massive future and Leeds looks a much better step up than a risky one to United at this stage.
