Leeds supporters react to Patrick Bamford’s display against Stoke City

Leeds United earned an excellent 5-0 win over Stoke City on Thursday night as they returned to the top of the Championship table – and Whites supporters have reacted on Twitter to Patrick Bamford’s performance.

Bamford, 26, notched his fourth goal in six games for the Whites as Marcelo Bielsa’s men proved far too much for Stoke. They took the lead when Helder Costa was felled by Tommy Smith just before the half-time whistle.

Mateusz Klich sent Jack Butland the wrong way to score, and it was two immediately after the restart as Costa turned scorer. Captain Liam Cooper netted the third, after excellent work from substitute Pablo Hernandez.

Then, Hernandez got on the score sheet himself with the best goal of the night. More than 30 passes saw Bamford play a superb dummy for Hernandez to stroke home a fourth from 18 yards out.

Bamford’s performance was excellent throughout and having hit the bar in the second 45, he finally got his goal with a stunning finish that hit both posts from tight angles – before crossing the line.

It is Bamford’s 16th of the season, while the former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest ace has also laid on three assists. Though he has come under plenty of criticism, many Leeds fans applauded him on Twitter after the win.
