Mateusz Bogusz has told Polish outlet Meczyki that he is “angry” at continually being overlooked by Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United – but Leeds supporters have praised the teenager for his refreshing honesty.
Bogusz, 18, starred for Leeds’ under-23 side last season after joining the club from Ruch Chorzow in January 2019. This season, the attacking midfielder was expected to blossom in the senior side – after appearing for Leeds in the tour of Australia.
However, Bogusz has managed just one senior outing despite injuries to Jamie Shackleton, Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw. Indeed, Bogusz has only appeared on the bench five times in the Championship. Injury has not helped.
Speaking about his lack of game time under Bielsa, Bogusz admitted that he is “angry” but is also aware how much he has developed training with the Whites under the former Argentina international.

“I’m angry that I don’t get a chance,” Bogusz said. “But when I look at development and how it is working here, I can tell you honestly – I feel I’ve developed incredibly for example in terms of endurance.”
Bogusz is due to enter the final 12 months of his current contract, which expires in the summer of 2021. It is likely that owner Andrea Radrizzani will offer the exciting midfielder a new deal – but nothing has been tabled as of yet.
Leeds supporters reacted on Twitter to the news that Bogusz is frustrated at a lack of game time, and many have discussed his future. Some feel he should have gone on loan, while others have praised him for his honesty.
One fan, though, reckons he is “probably done” and others are concerned he could leave.
