Leeds star sends six-word Instagram message to Conor Gallagher, after Tuesday
Leeds secured a crucial 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Tuesday – and Kalvin Phillips has sent a six-word message to Conor Gallagher on Instagram.
Two of the biggest roars from the Elland Road crowd were for VAR handing Leeds an injury-time penalty – and Raphinha scoring it past Vicente Guaita.
But another of those roars came inside the first few moments of the game, when Leeds midfielder Phillips planted a crunching tackle on Gallagher.
Of course, the on-loan Chelsea midfielder was strongly linked with a move to Leeds in the summer. But he joined Palace, and he has sparkled since.
On Tuesday, there were glimpses of his quality but Phillips kept his England teammate quiet – a tackle which Leeds posted on their official Twitter.
What has Leeds star Phillips said to Palace loanee Gallagher?
Gallagher’s decision to join Palace from Chelsea instead of Leeds was a blow. The Athletic confirmed he was a player Marcelo Bielsa wanted.
Leeds failed to bring in a midfielder, like they had done the season before. Huddersfield’s Lewis O’Brien was linked, but a move did not materialise.
Gallagher’s incredible form is likely to give him the chance next summer to break into Chelsea’s first team – unless Palace can find a permanent deal.
What is clear, is that he is well-liked by some at Leeds – especially Phillips. Responding to the tackle, Phillips praised Gallagher with a six-word post.
