Leeds star names his dream teammate, currently on £120k-a-week at PL club
Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips has named Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish as a “dream teammate”.
Phillips is currently at Euro 2020 as part of the England squad alongside Grealish, with the duo both starting in the recent win over Czech Republic.
Phillips, 25, is a highly rated central midfielder who’s been one of the surprise packages in Gareth Southgate’s side. He wasn’t expected to be a star this tournament, but is a pivotal part of the current XI.
Meanwhile, 25-year-old attacking midfielder Grealish is a driving force when he’s on the pitch for England. He scares opponents with his direct dribbling, so he’s such a weapon on the pitch.
Phillips has given huge credit to England teammate Grealish.
“To play with, he is a dream teammate because he gets you out of so many situations when you’re under pressure,” Phillips said.
“The quality he’s got on the ball is scary. When we play against them, it is always a very tough duel between me and him.
“I can remember the last time we played against each other – we didn’t face each other in 2020-21. In the Championship, we were speaking and was saying Villa were knackered after half an hour. I’m just glad I’m playing with him.”
Leeds don’t have Grealish, but have own superstar in Raphinha
Grealish, who earns £120,000-a-week, is a super talent that has gone up another level in the past year because of his improved end product.
He’s so dangerous in the left channel as a winger, so expect him to get into those areas if he starts next week against Germany.
However, Leeds do have their own star who possesses an attacking X-factor, too.
24-year-old left-footer Raphinha had a memorable first year in English football, as he helped light up the Premier League.
The Brazilian winger brings to Leeds what Grealish does for Villa, so Phillips is extremely fortunate to play with both.
