Leeds star Luke Ayling sends message to West Brom ace Kyle Bartley on Instagram

Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion played out a hard-fought draw at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night and Luke Ayling has sent an Instagram message to former Whites defender Kyle Bartley.

With Leeds sitting above West Brom on goal difference in first place before the start of the match – but both sides eight points clear of third – there was always going to be a mutual respect of both teams.

Marcelo Bielsa and Slaven Bilic showed as much on the touchlines, speaking like old friends. Semi Ajayi, who picked a move to West Brom over Leeds in the summer, opened the scoring as Bielsa’s men fail to defend a corner.

The Whites were second to best in what was only the second minute of the match, losing two headers before Ajayi pounced. Leeds pretty much dominated possession from that moment, but West Brom did have chances.

The introduction of Patrick Bamford changed the match and he scored an equaliser, with the help of a deflection from Ajayi. The points sees Leeds remain top, but both sides sit nine ahead of Brentford and Nottingham Forest who are on 43.

Bartley and Ayling came through the ranks at Arsenal together, before combining during the 2016-17 season at Elland Road. The two even lived together while Bartley was on loan at Leeds, and Ayling sent the Baggies defender an Instagram message.
