Kemar Roofe has posted on Instagram after making his debut for RSC Anderlecht on Wednesday night in a Cup match against Beerschot AC – prompting reaction from Leeds United ace Tyler Roberts and Izzy Brown.
Roofe, 26, left Leeds in the summer after entering the final 12 months of his contract at Elland Road. He had scored 15 goals for the Whites last term, but the Yorkshire club were forced into cashing in on the striker – rather than losing him for nothing.
The striker moved to Anderlecht for a fee in the region of £7million (The Sun), but has been unable to make his debut due to injury. On Wednesday, he started and lasted 91 minuted of Anderlecht’s extra-time 3-2 win over Beerschot.
Samir Nasri got on the score sheet as Roofe lined up alongside the Frenchman, Vincent Kompany and Nacer Chadi – and the former West Brom star posted on Instagram by sending a message to Anderlecht fans after the narrow win.
Roofe failed to get on the score sheet, but his replacement, Isaac Kiese Thelin found the winner in the 106th minute after the two sides had played out a 2-2 tie drawing the 90 minutes.
Leeds star Roberts reacted to the news that Roofe had made his debut by commenting ‘He’s back”, while former Leeds teammate Brown also reacted with a series of emojis.
