Leeds United seemed to enjoy a very impressive summer window with Raphinha becoming the final addition before Monday’s initial deadline. However, it appears that Marcelo Bielsa’s side may not yet be done.
The Whites can still sign players from EFL clubs for a little while longer. And it appears that there may be one Championship player who still finds himself on Leeds’s radar.

As reported by The Telegraph, Leeds have held talks with Norwich City regarding a potential move for Todd Cantwell. It is noted that Cantwell will cost around £15 million.
It remains to be seen if the Whites still have any plans to sign Cantwell before their next game. And in fairness, there is no question that he has the potential to be an outstanding signing for Leeds.

However, perhaps there is an argument that the Premier League side should look at potentially saving themselves £15 million and instead prepare to put more faith in a player yet to make their debut for the club.
Joe Gelhardt joined the Whites at the start of the summer. The move from Wigan appeared to be a real coup for Leeds. The Sun claimed that the club paid just £1 million for the forward.
The fans are yet to see him play for the first-team. However, he has arguably been one of the most impressive performers for the under-23s so far. His blossoming partnership with fellow summer signing Sam Greenwood is leaving supporters incredibly excited about the future.
Gelhardt has tended to play as a second striker. But he is versatile, so there seems little reason that he cannot provide cover for Bielsa in a number of positions.
Leeds meanwhile, will arguably struggle to improve their strongest lineup in this current stage of the window. Cantwell – who, admittedly, is a much more proven player than Gelhardt – would surely not get into the current side if Bielsa had every player available to him.
So perhaps it would be worthwhile making no further signings in that area of the pitch rather than look to land Cantwell.
Leeds may not be quite as strong if they promote Gelhardt sooner than planned rather than sign Cantwell. But in the long-term, it could prove a masterstroke.
