Mason Mount is set to be the subject of widespread transfer interest during the summer window, with Bournemouth leading the way, according to the Sun.
They report that Mount is expected to make the step up to the Premier League next season and the Cherries want him to add to their free-flowing attacking ranks.
But there are apparently other clubs interested in his signature, which is not much of a surprise given his impressive form on loan at Derby this season, where he has scored six goals in all competitions.
And if there is a race developing, Leeds United should be muscling themselves to the front of the queue.
Mount would be a perfect fit for Marcelo Bielsa’s attacking style of play and could boost a squad that still misses the creative influences of Samu Saiz at times.
And if Leeds clamber into the big-time, making them able to offer the top-flight football Mount craves, they would be a viable option in the transfer market.
Perhaps the biggest barrier to a deal would be Chelsea’s transfer embargo; which may see them turn to their young players more, convincing Mount to remain at the club because of increased Stamford Bridge opportunities.
But Bournemouth’s confidence that a deal is there to be done should encourage Leeds as well. First things first though, Leeds need to secure promotion.
