Leeds should join race for midfielder Scott McTominay

Leeds United could do with an extra midfield body to come through the Elland Road doors in the January transfer window, as Lewis Baker has seen his loan spell in Yorkshire end this month.

Baker, 23, returned to Chelsea after failing to make a serious impact for the Whites and was immediately loaned out again to Championship side Reading.

Despite not being a regular starter, his departure does leave Marcelo Bielsa’s senior options in the centre of the park looking a little thin and an extra addition should help the promotion bid.

One man that Leeds should consider chasing is Manchester United enforcer Scott McTominay.

According to the Sun, Celtic are keen on a loan deal for the 22-year-old and a number of English club are also casting their eye over his situation.

It is understood that Manchester United are debating sending the Scotland international out on loan and Leeds saw an approach rejected by the Premier League giants for him in the summer.

Leeds should get back in the hunt for the top-flight ace who would add some real quality at Elland Road.

McTominay is a highly-rated talent that broke into the Manchester United first team under former manager Jose Mourinho and would surely be irresistible in the Championship.

He is a defensive midfielder that is confident on the ball and does a great job of screening the back four.

The versatile ace can also slot in at centre-back and is the type of signing that could make Leeds even better for the second half of the campaign.
