Leeds should consider West Ham star that Moyes reportedly wants sold – TBR View

David Moyes is reportedly set to let Manuel Lanzini leave West Ham United this summer in order to raise funds and bring in some targets of his own – and Leeds United have got to be on red alert for a player that loves Marcelo Bielsa.

Lanzini, 28, has been in and out of the West Ham side this season – clocking up just 19 appearances in all competitions and while he is capable of magic, he has failed to achieve enough game time to develop momentum.

The signing of Jesse Lingard has pushed him down the pecking order. An Argentina international, he scored a wonderful long-ranger effort against Spurs to draw 3-3 earlier this season but has also struggled for fitness.

Now, Moyes wants to raise funds for signings ahead of Europe – and Lanzini is likely to be made available as per the Standard, a player West Ham signed permanently after an initial loan in 2016 for a fee of £9million (Guardian).

Leeds need a midfielder, one that can orchestrate the tempo of play from midfield. One that can score goals and create at the same rate, but also one that will buy into Bielsa’s style of play. His admiration for Bielsa is crucial.

Indeed, following West Ham’s 2-1 win over Leeds back in December at Elland Road – Lanzini posted a picture on Instagram. It read: “A pleasure to have been able to speak with one of the best managers.”

He has everything. West Ham are likely to sell him on the cheap, certainly smaller than the figure they paid for him – while he also has plenty of Premier League experience, clocking up 135 appearances. He would give Leeds flair.

With Pablo Hernandez expected to depart sooner rather than later, Lanzini would be the ideal replacement and with West Ham set to let him go – Leeds really need to be on red alert and bring him to Yorkshire.
