Leeds should consider Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers

Leeds United look a little short in the heart of defence going into the new season, with Pontus Jansson completing his move to Brentford.

Whites captain Liam Cooper is the senior option at centre-back, with loanee Ben White and versatile ace Gaetano Berardi looking like his most likely partners.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa surely has to look at bringing in another option to Elland Road if he can, as his team have aspirations of competing for promotion in the Championship.

Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is someone that should pop up on their radar and he looks a realistic target.

According to the Daily Mail, Carter-Vickers is one of eight players that Spurs would consider selling this summer in the transfer window to help raise funds.

The 21-year-old has struggled to make a serious senior breakthrough with just four first-team appearances for the Premier League club and they would be open to his sale.

Carter-Vickers would be a decent target for Leeds to consider and he would definitely increase competition in the club’s defence.

The American centre-back spent last season on loan with Swansea City in the Championship and impressed in the second-tier.

He’s a powerhouse that is decent in the air, while also confident in possession and a strong passer too.

Carter-Vickers managed to force his way into the side after being patient at Swansea and by the end of the campaign was a mainstay in the team.

He appears much maturer than a 21-year-old and may be an ideal fit alongside Jansson at Elland Road, so Leeds should make an approach to Spurs about how much he would cost.
