Leeds United desperately need to sign a forward during the current January transfer window, as they have seen Eddie Nketiah return to Arsenal early from his loan spell.
Patrick Bamford is going to continue playing the main role in attack during the second half of the season and has been a great fit in Marcelo Bielsa’s XI.
But the Whites are going to need a bigger squad to continue their promotion bid and make the most of sitting top of the Championship table as it stands.
One man that should crop up on their radar is Crystal Palace’s Connor Wickham, who previously had a brief loan spell with Leeds in 2014.
The Yorkshire club should looking at bringing the 26-year-old back to Elland Road in January, as he could help add some extra ammunition in attack and provide cover for Bamford.
According to Sky Sports, Wickham could soon be allowed to join a Championship club on loan as Palace close in on a deal for Everton’s Cenk Tosun.
With Wickham likely to be available to snap up on loan, Leeds should make contact for him.
The centre-forward has had extremely bad luck with injuries that have halted his career, but on his day he’s a decent finisher in the box and offers a physical presence.
He scored a late equaliser off the bench for Palace on New Year’s Day in a Premier League fixture against Norwich City and will be desperate to get back on track.
Wickham definitely has something to prove due to his lack of minutes and Leeds should take a punt on someone who could score goals in the Championship.
