One of the moves that is threatening to go down as one of the finest pieces of business in Leeds United’s recent history came last summer, and cost the club just £17 million.
It is remarkable to think that that was all Rennes wanted for Raphinha (fee reported by BBC Sport). The Brazilian has been a revelation in the Premier League.
Leeds fans seem fairly realistic about what the future could hold for the winger. And if the club do indeed sell him down the line, it seems inevitable that they will make a huge profit.

Replicating that sort of deal has got to be the aim for this summer. So perhaps they should take note of a report actually concerning one of his countrymen.
According to UOL Esporte, West Brom have fielded several enquiries from Premier League clubs for Matheus Pereira.
As things stand, it looks likely that the Baggies will make an immediate return to the Championship. And in truth, it is probably fair to say that Pereira has not hit the heights in the top flight that some expected.

However, the 24-year-old has still scored five goals and contributed three assists. It should not be forgotten that he provided an outrageous 16 assists in the Championship last year as the Baggies went up with Leeds.
That highlights how influential that he can be when playing for a team that does look to be on the front foot. And given the quality that Leeds possess and the style of play Marcelo Bielsa encourages, he would find himself back on that front foot at Elland Road.
Interestingly, according to UOL Esporte, the Baggies have told his admirers that they want £17 million for him this summer.
Of course, it would be remarkable if Leeds produced another £17 million masterstroke this summer. But even if he is anywhere near as impressive as Raphinha has been, Leeds could have another gem on their hands.
It is not clear which top flight clubs have enquired. Leeds may be one of the teams to have shown no interest.
But if that is the case, perhaps reports concerning his availability should catch Victor Orta’s eye.
