Leeds United have been linked with an entire host of centre-forwards already this summer, but they are yet to see one arrive through the entrance doors at Elland Road and the new Premier League season starts in just three weeks.
Despite being a favourite of manager Marcelo Bielsa, Patrick Bamford clearly can’t be the sole option at striker during the 2020/21 campaign and supporters are nervously awaiting news of a signing in that position.
The Yorkshire club have seen plenty of individuals crop up on their radar, but one man they should potentially consider is Watford’s Danny Welbeck.
London club Watford suffered relegation from the top-flight last season and are now preparing for life in the Championship, but they have some high-profile names on their books.
Welbeck is one man being linked with a move away from Vicarage Road and is someone that Leeds should be drawn towards.
According to the Sun, the 29-year-old wants to exit Watford due to their relegation and there is a release clause in his deal that means he is available for a cut-price fee of £5.5million.
The report explains that there has been plenty of Premier League interest in him, including from Southampton.

Welbeck may have had injury issues halt his career, but there is no doubt when he’s on form he can be quite the player and surely at under £6million he’s worth the risk for any team in the league, especially Leeds in their pursuit of a forward.
The 29-year-old proved his fitness in the back end of the season with Watford playing games at a regular rate and it looked like he was beginning to build up some real momentum once again.
He’s a versatile attacker that can play centrally or out wide, has great experience at the top level, and could be a real asset to Bielsa’s group.
Leeds boss Bielsa plays with a system where his attackers are often quite flexible and he needs his central figure to bring others into play, something that Welbeck can do with his clever movement and hold up play.
Welbeck’s got the impressive record of 16 goals in just 42 senior international caps for England and although his injury problems are a factor, it looks a no-brainer for Leeds to make an enquiry and see if he’s up for the challenge of keeping them in the top-flight division next season.
