Leeds should consider ambitious move for £11m Tottenham star

It is clear to see a trend in recent reports linking players with a move to Leeds United. Indeed, the Whites are desperate to bring in new wingers this summer – if reports are to be believed.

Liverpool star Ryan Kent has been linked with a move to Elland Road after an excellent spell on loan at Rangers under Steven Gerrard, while Wolves’ Portugal international Helder Costa is also high on Leeds’ shortlist.

Manchester City star Jack Harrison impressed during the 2018-19 campaign for Leeds on loan, and the former New York City winger is also being linked with a return to Elland Road.

But Leeds should use Marcelo Bielsa’s connection with Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino, and add another name to that list in the form of French star Georges-Kevin Nkoudou.

French magazine France Football have claimed that 24-year-old Nkoudou will be returning to Tottenham this summer, after AS Monaco chose not to turn his loan into a permanent deal this summer.

Nkoudou managed just three appearances for Monaco before suffering a hamstring injury. Since his £11million (ESPN) move from Marseille in 2016, he has hardly had a chance at Tottenham – playing just 26 times.

He is likely to leave on loan again. Nkoudou still has two years left on his contract and with his lack of momentum or form, clubs are unlikely to want to spend what would be a risky transfer fee.

Instead, another loan is likely and Leeds should consider adding the Frenchman to their shortlist. His speed, skill and eye for goal would give the Whites an excellent option from the bench or even in the starting eleven.

Landing Nkoudou would excite Leeds fans, and he could prove somewhat of an unknown if given the chance to shine in the Championship – though it would be a somewhat ambitious move given he played for Monaco last term.
