Leeds should battle for Woodburn once Liverpool cut short Sheffield United loan

Liverpool are ready to cut short Ben Woodburn’s loan spell with Championship promotion chasers Sheffield United, according to Goal.

They report that the Welsh starlet grew frustrated with his lack of gametime at Bramall Lane and the Reds have decided to prematurely terminate his time with Chris Wilder’s side.

Goal claim that Liverpool will not be short of further loan offers if they decide to let him leave Anfield on a temporary basis again, with Brentford, Hull City and Blackburn all lingering with interest.

One other club who should be in the hunt for a winger this month are Leeds United, following the mixed form of Jack Harrison and Ezgjan Alioski this season.

Woodburn’s underwhelming spell at Sheffield United may not immediately inspire Leeds fans that he is the man for the job of giving their promotion bid a shot in the arm, but he is an immense talent.

He is a full Wales international at just 19 years old and Marcelo Bielsa could be the man to unlock his talent and make him the reliable creative outlet he needs.

Pablo Hernandez is better in a central role, but for as long as the wingers continue to underperform, the temptation will always be there to move the Spaniard out wide.

Woodburn has so much quality and he needs a run of games – like Harry Wilson has had at Derby – to prove his worth and Leeds is the ideal place to make that happen.
