One of Leeds United’s biggest priorities this summer is surely going to be signing a new central midfielder ahead of their second season back in the Premier League.
Stuart Dallas has been outstanding in the role. But the Northern Irishman is not naturally a number eight. Meanwhile, Mateusz Klich has not been able to keep his early season form going throughout the campaign.

So adding more quality in that area of the field could be essential. And given Victor Orta’s track record, it should come as no surprise if some of those linked are not new names to the Leeds radar.
One player who was linked with the Whites earlier this season was Riqui Puig, with 90min reporting in November that he had been offered to Leeds on loan.
Of course, no move would take place in January. But Sport is now reporting that he could leave on loan in the summer.

It is suggested that there is a feeling at Barcelona that he needs to be playing regularly. And while Sport claims that Puig is not keen to leave on loan at the moment, he may have to reconsider that stance.
It is noted that several clubs have already made contact about a potential move. Sport suggests that there has been interest from the Premier League.
If Leeds are not one of those to make an enquiry, perhaps they should look to get involved in the race.
Cesc Fabregas told RAC1 (via Tribuna) in 2019 that Puig could become Barca’s next Andres Iniesta.
Admittedly, a loan may not seem ideal for Leeds as they look to keep progressing. But Puig looks to have the potential to be a special talent.
And if he is available, Leeds must surely put themselves in the running.
