Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa could be thwarted for a second time by Russian giants CSKA Moscow during his two-year reign at Elland Road – after San Lorenzo accepted an offer for a striker linked with a summer move to Leeds.
In Bielsa’s first summer in charge, the former Argentina and Chile manager was desperate for the Whites to complete a deal to sign Uruguay international Abel Hernandez – following his release from Hull City in 2018.
However, the Whites could not tempt Hernandez to join Leeds – with the player requesting an enormous £100,000 a week (YEP). He chose to join CSKA, where he managed just three goals in 15 appearances for the Russian outfit.
He is now playing for Al Ahli in Qatar, while Leeds are set to miss out to CSKA in pursuit of a striker for a second time. That is because TYC Sports claim San Lorenzo have accepted a £7.5million for Argentine striker Adolfo Gaich.
Leeds had been linked with a move for Gaich, even though website Ole claimed San Lorenzo were not aware of interest from Bielsa’s side. Interested or not, Leeds are set to miss out with CSKA having a bid accepted.

TBR’s view – Gaich would have been an excellent signing
Just 21 years of age, Argentine Under-23 international Gaich is not the kind of striker you would associate with the South American nation. Argentina are renowned for pocket-sized attackers: Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Diego Maradona.
But Gaich is a 6ft 3in target man that is equally as good at holding the ball up, as he is in scoring goals. In just 12 league games this season, Gaich has scored five goals and at just £7.5million – he would have been a top signing for Leeds.
