In the summer, Marcelo Bielsa was rumoured to be looking to take advantage of his relationship with Mauricio Pochettino to launch a move for Tottenham defender Juan Foyth, according to AS.
However, it never came to light. Now, the Spurs regular has opened up on his plans in the summer and hinted that he may have considered dropping down to the Championship in the hunt for first team football.
“I think I was a different player at that time to what I am now. I wasn’t really fully prepared to play in the Premier League back then but after training extensively with players like Davinson [Sanchez], Jan [Vertonghen] and Toby [Alderweireld] and against such quality forward players that we have here, I think I have learned a lot in that time,” Foyth told the Evening Standard.

Having made his bow in the Premier League in November after impressing against West Ham in the Carabao Cup, the 20-year-old has gone on to make six appearances in the league.
Pochettino appears to be a fan of the Argentinian and he is now establishing himself in the top flight, suggesting that a January move down to the second tier may be off the cards.
As doubts continue to surround the likes of Toby Alderweireld, it seems inevitable that Foyth will only continue to gain more importance in the Tottenham set-up, unfortunately for Bielsa.
