Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore and Rio Ferdinand’s recent comments on the Spain international will surely excite Whites supporters, ahead of January window.
Traore, 24, has been in and out of Wolves side this season – failing to replicate the stunning form he produced last season. Indeed, the five-time Spain star has started just seven of his 14 Premier League games, failing to score or lay on an assist.
Last season, Traore had a hand in 18 goals during 54 games – scoring 12 and creating six. 90Min claim Wolves have offered a new contract to Traore but that is yet to be signed, with his current deal due to expire in the summer of 2023.
They also claim Leeds are interested and that Wolves will accept offers in the region of £40million for Traore. With Leeds looking to land the former Middlesbrough star, fans will be excited at such a prospect – given Ferdinand’s recent comments.

“He’s a machine. I was watching him pre-game and he could be a power lifter or a cruiser-weight boxer – he’s huge,” Ferdinand told BT Sport back in January – as per Birmingham Live. “He’s powerful and quick and this season, scares defenders.
“You see teams now trying to double up against him because of the threat he possesses. He will be a part of a lot of opposition team talks because sides know now they have to stop him.”
TBR’s view – Traore capable of magic, but he won’t be joining Leeds
Leeds spent the best part of £100million in the summer, bringing in the likes of Helder Costa permanently, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Raphinha and Rodrigo. That is a lot of money, and a risk, for a promoted side.
Yes, owner Andrea Radrizzani can afford such a figure but if relegated, financial fairplay can become a concern. Signing Traore would be excellent business but the chances of Leeds paying a figure close to £40million for Traore is more than unlikely.
