Leeds reportedly want player from bitter rivals that Billy Sharp made big prediction about

Leeds are reportedly considering a loan move to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson in the January transfer window as he looks to concrete his place in the England Euro 2021 squad – and Billy Sharp’s comments will excite Leeds fans.

Henderson, 23, kept 35 clean sheets in 86 league and cup appearances for Sheffield United during two years on loan at Bramall Lane. Instead of rejoining the Blades again, he returned to Old Trafford to rival David De Gea – but remains second choice.

Just three appearances have come his way since returning to his parent club. Now, The Sun claim Henderson could look to leave on loan in January and Leeds are interested – but face competition from Brighton for the England star’s signature.

Illan Meslier has been in excellent form for Leeds since the club were promoted, keeping three clean sheets in nine Premier League appearances. But he remains just 20 years of age. Henderson is being linked, and Billy Sharp is clearly a fan.

The ex-Leeds striker thinks he should be England’s number one, as per Yorkshire Post: “He loves keeping the ball out of the net and I’m certain he’ll be England’s No 1 soon, he has to be with his performances and he wants to be as well.”

TBR’s view – Henderson would be a top signing, but harsh on Meslier

Meslier has been fantastic and although he is young and one for the future, does he really need replacing? The more he plays, the better he gets. Bringing in a replacement is only going to suggest to the Frenchman that he is not yet good enough.

Couple that with Spotrac claiming Henderson is earning an enormous £100,000 a week at Old Trafford. Leeds have spent a lot of money but to match those kind of wages for a player they do not desperately need is a waste of money.
