Leeds United are one of several clubs reportedly interested in Lucas Vazquez, according to Cuatro.

The Spanish outlet claims that the Elland Road side is eyeing the 29-year-old, along with Premier League rivals Everton.

Italian clubs AC Milan and Napoli are also said to be interested in Vazquez, whose Real Madrid contract expires at the end of the season.

According to Diario Madridista, Real are unwilling to meet his demands of a 15 percent pay rise, and it looks as though he could leave in the summer.

Vazquez has come through the ranks at the Bernabeu and has played for Los Blancos the majority of his career, save for a spell at Espanyol.

To date, he has made 231 competitive senior appearances for Real, registering 26 goals and 51 assists.

It is claimed that Leeds are ready to offer £83,000-a-week to Vazquez, who reportedly earns £50,000-a-week at present.

Vazquez is highly rated by Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane, who says the 29-year-old “always gives everything” for the team.

In November last year, the Frenchman told Movistar – via Get Football News Spain – that Vazquez was set to be offered a new contract.

“He always gives everything for us,” said Zidane. “I have always valued him as a player and what he gives to us on the pitch.

“Now he is having the opportunity to show us what he is all about. He was a youth team player for us and has Real Madrid in his heart.

“I’m happy for him and for the team. He is an important player and the club knows that. I think it will happen and he will renew.”

Vazquez is a player of the highest calibre, as shown by a CV which features over 200 appearances for Real Madrid and numerous trophies.

He’s also versatile, able to play at right-back and on the right wing, thus potentially providing competition for Raphinha, Jack Harrison and Luke Ayling.

While Zidane is clearly eager to hang on to him, it looks as though discussions over a new contract haven’t provided a breakthrough – and Real’s loss could perhaps be Leeds’ gain.
