Leeds United will welcome the chance to get back in Premier League action this weekend as they host Brighton at Elland Road.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have won plaudits throughout the campaign. However, they came in for a load of criticism after being knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend.
The tie saw a number of first-team players feature. But several key men were rested for the trip to Crawley. And they will almost certainly return for this weekend.
One player who will not be involved however, is Kalvin Phillips. The midfielder is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Tottenham earlier this month.
It is a big blow for Leeds to be without Phillips. The England international has been outstanding at times. And Bielsa is arguably yet to find a player who can really fill in for the 25-year-old.
The man who has tended to replace Phillips when required is Pascal Struijk. And he may well be the player who sits in midfield at the weekend.
Struijk pushing forward opens the door for Liam Cooper to make his league return. The captain got 45 minutes under his belt at Crawley after missing a handful of games through injury.
He may play alongside Luke Ayling. But Bielsa also has the option to bring Diego Llorente in for only his second appearance.
That would likely see Ayling return to right-back with Stuart Dallas taking Struijk’s spot in midfield. But with Llorente’s problems with injury since arriving at Leeds, it seems unlikely that the Spaniard will be thrown back into the side so quickly.
With that in mind, here is what Leeds’ lineup may look like on Saturday…
