Leeds player Raphinha sends three-word Instagram message to Arsenal defender
Leeds United winger Raphinha continued his excellent start to Premier League life with another assist during his side’s 4-2 defeat to Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday evening – and has sent a three-word Instagram message to David Luiz.
Raphinha, 24, has instantly become a fan favourite at Elland Road since completing a £17million move from French club Rennes last summer. The Brazilian has played 18 times in the Premier League since, having a hand in nine goals.
He laid on the assist for Pascal Struijk’s first ever professional goal, a powerful header that saw the big defender win the ball ahead of Raphinha’s fellow countryman Luiz, leaving the ex-Chelsea man on the deck as Leeds came back into the match.
The Yorkshire side could only manage two goals in a much-improved second half, though, as Arsenal ended a winless run of three Premier League games to beat Marcelo Bielsa’s side. Luiz posted on Instagram after the match.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been in and out of form this season but he put Leeds to the sword on Sunday, scoring his first ever Premier League hat-trick while Hector Bellerin also scored. Illan Meslier was at fault for two of Arsenal’s four goals.
Despite the loss, Raphinha responded to £101,000-a-week (Spotrac) Luiz’s post by telling the experienced Gunners defender “I’m your fan”, along with a couple of emojis including a heart.
