The Yorkshire Evening Post have claimed that Leeds United striker Rafa Mujica is set to leave Elland Road for a second time this season – and the forward has posed in his new club’s shirt on Instagram, though there is no official announcement.

Mujica, 21, joined Leeds in the summer from Barcelona’s B side on a free transfer after scoring 10 goals in 60 appearances for the La Liga giants’ second string. He featured for the Whites during pre-season under Marcelo Bielsa.

But the youngster was loaned out to second-tier Spanish side Extremadura just weeks after completing a move to Elland Road. It hs not gone to plan, with Mujica managing just eight appearances – and failing to score a single goal.

The YEP claimed both Mujica and Guille Amor were set to leave, with Getafe eyeing Amor and Mujica closing in on a move to Villarreal’s B-team. The report does not specify if it is a loan or permanent – but Mujica posed in a Villarreal shirt on Instagram.

TBR’s view – Mujica needs to change potential into proven quality

The striker is now 21 years of age and is of the age where the tag of a talented youngster now needs to change. He needs to turn his potential into proven quality and the only way he will be able to do that is by getting game time.

At Extremadura, it is clear that he was not getting enough. The striker should only be joining Villarreal’s second string if he has been assured that he will play most matches between now and the end of the season – in what is likely to be a loan.
